Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise that emphasizes mindbody balance through the development of core strength and flexibility by practicing a variety of graceful movements utilizing floor mats and various pieces of equipment.

Pilates conditions and develops the deeper, supporting muscles of the body to improve posture, balance and coordination.

This form of exercise focuses on breath, whole-body health and whole-body commitment.

The Six Principles of Pilates are:

FLOW – CONCENTRATION – CENTERING – BREATH – CONTROL – PRECISION

These principles are referred to continuously during the session as a reminder to assist you in further enhancing your practice and benefiting your body and mind.

Our range of classes gives you the opportunity to change up your training, keep your practise fresh and work on your mindbody connection! We offer plenty of classes to work around your schedule and keep you on track! Our timetable is updated regularly so keep a lookout for added classes: Pilates Timetable.

Pilates is STRENGTH and FLEXIBILITY through MOVEMENT

Garuda

Garuda is a beautiful blend of Pilates, Yoga and Dance and thus is a more movement based choice to classic Pilates. It would be ideal to have a working knowledge of Pilates before attending these classes as the Pilates techniques are not taught in this class. If you are wanting more of a cardio-vascular workout, then this is the class for you!

Garuda also utilises the six Principles of Pilates as outlined above. With regular practise you will find that your strength, flexibility, co-ordination and endurance will improve.

Barre

Barre is taking the movements, techniques and exercises that you learn in Pilates and Garuda and transition them to a standing repertoire. The Barre Workout is primarily focused on strengthening and toning the hips and lower body. Although, we also add core exercises into the class and spine and shoulder mobility work. You can also expect to work up a sweat in this class too!

Ever wondered why ballerinas can be slim and strong at the same time?… a lot of time spent at the Barre!
